Peonies and Creek Intaglio Print: Line Etching, and Aquatint on Copper Plate, 9 in. by 11.75 in., 1980. |
Just outside their house and studio, Jack Beal and Sondra Freckelton have this view of a rock wall, the creek, the peonies and iris and a shadow of the wooden bridge railing. Jack's original drawing for this print showed very loosely painted washes, but here the values are rendered as six very fine aquatint tones, handled beautifully by Jennifer Melby. This plate was steel-faced by Orlando Condezo at Spring Press in NYC in July, 2004. |
