DAM AND STUMP

Dam and Stump
Intaglio Print: Line Etching and Aquatint on Copper Plate, 4.07 in. by 6.72 in., 1979.

The creek (Jack pronounces it "crick") that runs just beside the house and studio where Jack and Sondra Freckelton live and work, can change its mood rapidly. In this image the creek has brought down a tree stump that Jack says reminds him of Medusa's crown of snakes. Jennifer Melby assisted Jack in developing this etching with aquatint in 1979 and 1980. The plate was steel-faced by Orlando Condezo at Spring Press, NYC, in July, 2004.
