Chicken House Intaglio Print: Soft Ground, Line Etching, and Aquatint on Copper Plate, 11.25 in. by 13.5 in., 1981. |
Jack Beal says he never kept chickens in the "Chicken House." This is an excellent example of Jack's use of soft grounds during the early stages of developing a print. The image also demonstrates Jack's great interest in finding patches of light that he can use to break out of the darkness. The burnisher was used to pick up some of the foreground flower forms. This plate was steel-faced by Orlando Condezo at Spring Press in NYC in July, 2004. |
